I'm wondering why you consider Sweet Home Alabama a bad song. Too trite? Do tell.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it isn't the song, it is the reputation it has given Lynyrd Skynyrd. Many people use it as the reason they hate Skynyrd, a lot of my friends say that they are hicks. Granted the song is actually more of a satire of Alabama, but it would've been better for the group if they had never written.
ReplyDeletepoint taken, although i would add that, yes, i don't think it's fair to judge a song based on who has reacted to it and how. nor should a song be judged by how it affected the band after it was released. a good song is a good song, a bad song is a bad song (which is subjective, of course). sure, maybe it's cheesey. but taken out of the context of who released it, how, why, etc, etc, i don't think it really is that horrible of a song.
ReplyDeleteI agree. But this was primarily a jab at a friend of mine who says that Tuesday's Gone (Skynyrd's best song) sucks. I needed to let everyone know how right I was. You don't have to take it seriously. Besides, I find it to be Skynyrd's When I'm 64: It's kind of annoying in how up beat it tries to be about a dark issue.
